Full disclosure. I may have a plant problem. I love how a plant immediately breaths life into a room and makes it feel more cozy. Plants are some of my favorite accessories to decorate with, and I have one in most every room of my home. Plants aren’t hard to care for and make a big difference in the look of your home. So I am going to show you my plants and what I do to care for them.
I recently went to the Moore and Moore garden center with my daughters, Kendel and Kasie, and my granddaughter, MJ. It is located close to Kasie’s house, on highway 100 in Nashville, and it was loaded with new flowers, plants, and beautiful pots. I wanted one of everything, but settled on this pretty plant that is doing well in my kitchen window.
I don’t even know the name of it, but so far caring for it has been pretty easy. I repotted it into this pretty white pot that I purchased at Marshalls and water it whenever the soil looks dry. It makes me happy to see it here everyday.
A couple of years ago, I was on the hunt for a fiddle leaf fig tree. They were becoming really popular, and I had a hard time finding one. I got the bright idea to search Amazon and there they were. I decided to take a chance and place my order. It came quickly and was packaged great. After receiving it, I decided not to repot it, and placed it in a bright spot in my sun room. At first, it started to look a little pitiful, but then it took off and grew straight up. I was afraid it was going to bend over, or break, so I had Frank stake it for me. I just recently repotted and pruned it. I have the leaves and top that I pruned in water, waiting for roots to grow, so that I can have more plants.
My friend Lisa has a clover plant (That’s what I call it.) that was given to her. The correct name is Oxalis Regnelli plant. I found bulbs and ordered from Etsy. I planted them in some little white pots, that I found at target. They started coming up pretty quickly. I love how they close up in the evening and pop open each morning.
One plant that I have a sentimental connection is my snake plant. This was Frank’s grandmother’s and I love that she tended to it with her hands and now it’s in my care. It is currently in our foyer and greats all that enters our home, and that makes me happy.
I have an old white slop jar that was my Aunt Sue’s, so of course, I named this plant Sue. Yes, I talk to them. I also do what I call, Water Wednesday, to help me stay on schedule with my watering. I recommend sticking your finger in the dirt to make sure they aren’t too moist before adding more water. My snake plant doesn’t require as much watering as some of the others do.
Here’s a few pics of my other plants. Isn’t the little heart planter with the crazy looking succulent so cute?!?
I hope this post inspires you to add some beautiful green plants to your home. I’m sure they will make your spaces feel more alive and cozy and in return, will make you happy.
